Raised in a small town in Upstate New York,
Dr. Brooks was the Salutatorian of her high school class.
She won a State Regents Scholarship and went on to complete
a Bachelor’s Degree in Music, majoring in piano,
at SUNY Potsdam. She was elected to Sigma Alpha Iota,
an honorary music fraternity for women. After graduation,
she married her high school sweetheart and began a teaching
career. She did graduate piano study at the Eastman
School of Music and played professionally as well as
taught and trained teachers in the Suzuki Piano Method.
She was also a church organist and choir director and
is an experienced accompanist.
While raising three children as a single parent, she completed
a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis
in Early Childhood at SUNY Geneseo. She has extensive
experience teaching in both public and private schools
from preschool through high school. She designed and
ran a program for gifted middle school children in Berea,
OH, where she also ran workshops for teachers in brain
development and learning theory, a Creative Conflict
group for the students and a support group for the parents
of gifted children.
Upon completion of her Ph.D. in Psychology at International
College, she did an internship with Jack Gibb, Ph.D.,
author of TRUST. While maintaining a private practice,
she has also been a consultant and mediator with corporations,
including Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City and
Parinello, Inc. in San Diego. |
For the past 25 years she has specialized
in the integration of psychological and spiritual growth.
She currently maintains a private practice in San Diego,
CA where she practices Lifespan Integration and does
emotional release and Inner Child work in private, group
and workshop settings. She facilitates two transformational
workshops, Awakening Awareness and Expanding Awareness,
nationally and internationally. She is the author of
RADICAL INTEGRITY: 21 Ways to Create a Meaningful Life.
As a survivor/thriver of child sexual abuse, she is actively
involved in the prevention and healing of this global
epidemic with her Internet radio show,
Breaking the Conspiracy of Silence. She is also a facilitator
of Darkness to Light’s training program that educates
adults about child sexual abuse, Stewards of Children.
